Movie Info & Cast

Deep-sea rescue diver Jonas Taylor (Jason Statham) faces his fear in order to save the crew of a submersible trapped on the bottom of the deepest trench in the Pacific Ocean. Oh, and by the way – Taylor’s “fear” happens to be a 75-foot-long pre-historic shark known as the Megalodon, the largest predator of all time. Taylor has every reason to be afraid, considering he’s already encountered the unstoppable monster once in his life – and when it comes to not-so-extinct giant sharks, once is more than enough The Meg is directed by Jon Turteltaub (National Treasure). The heart-stopping sci-fi thriller boasts an impressive cast, including Li Bingbing, Winston Chao, Rainn Wilson, Ruby Rose, Page Kennedy, Jessica McNamee, Ólafur Darri Ólafsson, Robert Taylor, Cliff Curtis, Sophia Shuya Cai, and Masi Oka.

Jason Statham was great as always. The movie was good to see once. But it was boring. Nothing that makes you want to see it again, even when it comes out on dvd.

Like director Jon Turteltaub’s underrated National Treasure movies, The Meg has an innate understanding of its own absurdity, and is at its best when it embraces and amplifies that impulse.

Blandly internationalized, generically derivative, drained of any personality, edited as if by computer and bleached of the slightest hint of emotion other than a holiday card-like sympathy for children and allegedly cute animals, The Meg is a one hundred percent inorganic meal, something made from pre-tasted and then regurgitated ingredients.
