The English subtitle is too small. It’s very hard to read. If u want to show in locations w mostly English speakers. That has to be improved. Nothing is worse than straining ur eyes for 2 hrs trying to follow the dialogues.

Bo’s secret weapon in The Island is Shu Qi, an effortlessly magnetic star who enlivens even the dullest material. Kept in the background for a lot of the story, she still brings a welcome human touch to a plot that keeps threatening to turn into a lecture.

The Island runs hot and cold, with clunky comic set-pieces alternating with moments of genuine wonder and surprise. But even at its most misbegotten, the movie’s always thoughtful, examining what we value — and why.

There are no good or bad people in The Island, just a group of hapless schmucks who become more sympathetic as they get more desperate.
