9.6 - Updated review 2024: As cozy & funny, & as sad & wistful, as it was the first time I watched it. I’m so happy Da’Vine Joy Randolph earned the Oscar for her performance last year, it’s so well deserved. Between this & Klaus, it’s amazing we’ve been given two all time holiday classics since…
I didn’t expect this to be my favorite movie of the year, but I think it is.
It's a beautiful warm story. Reminded me of movies like Dead Poets Society and Good Will Hunting. The acting was phenomenal, I was left speechless afew times from the acting alone. The style it was filmed in was so perfectly, simplistically, nostalgic. It's not just a Christmas movie but a people…

8.8/10 Really incredible how a movie can be so sad and heartwarming at the same time. Very realistic with how the characters interact with one another and grow with each other. Loved the writing, acting, characters, and the soundtrack. The modern day It’s a Wonderful Life.
Instant classic alert! So thankful for the film style and audio sounding as if this was filmed 40 years ago which matched the emotional journey that ensued and setting. A total stand out from its contemporaries while paying homage in a way to its predecessors, great for all ages.

133 minute goon session with Paul Giamatti Filmed like its from the 70s-80s which I loved, warm feeling like Dead Poets
the best way i can explain how this movie feels like is a huge, warm, comforting hug. i didn’t expect to love every single detail of this, i’m so glad i decided to give it a try. it’s the perfect combination of hurt and comfort. loved the dynamic between paul and angus. 9.3/10

Finally, a movie that is thoughtful and deeply moving. The clever writing is the BEST and delivered in stunning and poignant performances by this talented cast. You will be drawn in and touched by The Holdovers.
SSSunny SinghPaul Giamatti at his best role yet since Saving Private Ryan. Never knew a kind side can be played by such an actor. The story is very heartfelt and warming. Dominic Sessa does a wonderful job of giving you a feeling of being left alone but trying his best to make the most…
PRPaul RainesOutstanding film. It’s a throwback to the days when films were original, with a meaningful plot and great acting.

It's rare that a film truly live up to the optimistic and heart of its trailer. It's a common perception that movies are not what they "used to be". "They don't make them like they used to". And to be honest, at times I do feel discouraged with quality and selection of…

Enjoyable date night. Good moments of humor, but also deeper story.
JPJaclyn PalmerThe cast did an incredible job. Wish Hollywood would make more original content movies like this. Went to see it because Paul Giamatti never misses.
