  • Reflected in the security window in Korben's cab as he speeds away from the cops and loses the last point on his license.
  • In the beginning at the Egyptian temple while speaking to the priest, the professor has his cup in his right hand, then a brush, then the cup again, all while speaking the same sentence.
  • In the first scene, when the Mondoshawans arrive to take the "fifth element" statue in the hidden room, the camera pans up and over the statue to an overhead shot. This statue has apparently been untouched for several hundred years, and would naturally be uniformly dusty. Unfortunately there is an obvious clean human hand print on the top of the statue, presumably from whoever put the statue in place for the shot.
  • Zorg's limp switches from his right leg to his left leg and then back again several times throughout the film.
  • When Leeloo throws the box of stones to Zorg, the box is rotating to the left (as seen from the screen), but after the cut just after the throw, the box is rotating the other way.
  • When Korben gets into the cab and he opens the "garage door" you can see a grilled light being held by a crewman's hand.
  • When Right Arm explodes in the terminal and the smoke clears, he is still standing in the same place in the same position completely unaffected.
  • Zorg catches the case containing the four stones, and is seen putting it down on the floor next to the door so he can pursue Leeloo. In the next shot, the case has vanished.
  • When Leeloo has crash landed in Korben's taxi cab, when she looks up through the glass cab panel she has a strand of red hair across her nose and cheek that could be taken for blood, explaining why it "disappears" later.
  • When Leeloo is standing on the ledge and is being blinded by the police lights she raises her hands right before she jumps. Her hands are very dirty, almost completely black. After that she jumps down, crashes into Korben's cab, and puts her hands against the glass, here you can see her hands are much cleaner. Also her face seems less dirty. And when she jumps off the ledge, the police vehicle is no longer hovering directly in front of her.
  • Reversed shot of buttons (numbers reversed) in airplane cockpit prior to departure for Fhloston Paradise.
  • In the very beginning of the movie, right before Leeloo punches through the glass that is supposed to be "unbreakable", you can see that the glass is already cracked and ready to be broken.
  • When Leeloo falls through the cab roof and Korben has to pull over and puts the cab on "automatic", the word "automatic" on the button is the wrong way down, but later when he pushes the button again to start running from the cops, the writing on the button is almost perfect.
  • When they arrive at the temple Cornelius holds up a stone with the lines going across the bottom of it, Korben takes it, but in the next shot he is holding a stone with lines running up it.
  • After Rhuby Rhod's first broadcast in the airport interior, the commercial audio for the Gemini Crocket Contest runs in the background. Since Korben has already won, there is no need to keep running this commercial.
  • In all shots of Leeloo up to the scene with Cornelius and David where she points out the planet to Cornelius on the monitor, there is a visible mark on her forehead (just above her left eyebrow) - not a dirt mark but an actual physical blemish on Milla Jovovich's head. However, just before the scene changes, it magically vanishes, and never reappears in the remainder of the movie.
  • When Vito Cornelius tries to convince the president, he has a little blood-spot on the right eye (as seen from the camera; it's his left eye actually). Later on it disappears.
  • In Zorg's office, when he is interrogating Vito Cornelius, near the end of the scene, a boom mic moves slightly in and out of the top left of the frame.
  • Leeloo's "tattoo" appears in several places throughout the film. When she is standing on the ledge, it is on her left forearm. Later, it switches between her left wrist and her right wrist.
  • In the first scene where Zorg is walking, the sound of metal clinking is heard when his right foot hits the ground. After his face is shown, the metal clinking is heard when his left foot hits the ground for the rest of the movie.
  • We see three Mangalores advance on Korben and Ruby in the first row right after Korben tells Ruby to guard the stones, then we cut to the President's office. When we cut back to Korben he has now shot three Mangalores at the front entrance to the opera house and the arms of his shirt are now torn. There is no scene detailing what happened to his shirt or the Mangalores.
  • In the penultimate scene in the temple, Ruby, unable to light the fire stone because he has no matches, claims that he would have some if he had not quit smoking. However, he is seen smoking earlier in the film, the cigarette being lit by one of his toadies: Ruby has not so much quit smoking as he has, being a galaxy-class VIP, quit lighting his own cigarettes.
  • At the spaceport on their way to Fhloston, Korben takes David's ID, looks at it and calls him David when David is impersonating Korben. However, when David shows the fake ID's to Vito, he checks it and says "Korben David Dallas". When Korben shows up to the spaceport he takes David's ID looks at and since he knows David is not his middle name he just assumes his name is David.
  • After Leeloo has fallen into the taxi and is pleading with Korben for help, she sees a sign that says "Please help" and instantly understands how those two words are pronounced. For her, the alphabet should appear as gibberish and, even if she were able to realize that she was looking at writing and surmise the meaning, she should have had no idea how to pronounce it.
  • General Munroe and associates are pushed into a freezer at Korben's apartment and are clearly frozen however later in the film General Munroe is seen again. At no point is his unfreezing mentioned in the movie.
  • When Leeloo is exiting the shuttle on the cruise ship, the camera dollies forward and there is a crew member on the left of the screen with a radio. The camera quickly adjusts to remove him from the shot.
  • When the Mangalores first bring the box of stones (which turns out to be empty) to Zorg, it shows him lifting the lid. It's obvious there is a frame cut at this point because the scene 'jumps' a bit to the right before he closes the lid again.
  • During Plavalaguna's performance, the seams on her prosthetic headpiece are clearly visible in profile shots.
  • In the final exterior shot of the temple as Mr. Shadow is approaching, the sun is in the background and a shadow falls across the foreground; however there is nothing in between to create the shadow.
  • After his first broadcast, Ruby's assistant lights up a cigarette for him. Ruby smokes while his staff is telling him how "green" the show was. When he glance at Korben, the cigarette is still in his left hand. But the next second, he dismiss his whole staff with his left hand, and the cigarette and the smoke emanating from it are both gone.
  • In the flying car chase, the shot of the cockpit 3D map display is reversed. All lettering is backward.
  • When Leeloo is on the ledge of the building when she is escaping after being revived and the police are scanning her, when the picture of her is captured - the screen next to her picture says "commencin initial...."
  • When "Fingers" calls Korben on the phone to tell him about the cab needing its 6 month overhaul, he mentions he sat next to Major Dallas (Korben) "for a thousand missions", meaning he was a soldier in the same "elite special forces unit of the Federated Army" as Korben. Yet, when General Munroe comes to the apartment to talk Major Dallas (Korben) into a mission "to save the world" (to retrieve the stones from the Diva), he tells Major Dallas that "out of all the members of your unit, you're the only one left alive".
  • When Korbin Dallas hides Fr. Vito Cornelius in the retractable bed, it's evident that part of his priest's robe will stick out from the closed bed, revealing his hiding place.
  • At the end of the movie, it's said that the rock stops 62 miles from Earth, although it appears to be in an orbit similar to the moon's, which is approximately 240,000 miles.
  • As General Munroe and Doctor Mactilburgh walk into the Nucleo lab just as the doors open you can see the camera dolly tracks on the floor for a brief second. This is right after Mactilburgh says, "can't wait to meet him". Then the doors open to revel the lab interior and you see the tracks.
  • In the beginning of the movie, in the temple, the young scientist fires at the Mondoshawans using a Mauser C96 pistol with an extended 20 round magazine. This variant of the Mauser "broomhandle" called the Schnellfeurer was not produced until 1932. Interestingly, Astra made the first C96 copy with an extended magazine and full-auto capability, the Model 902, starting in 1928. In any case, the type of pistol used was not commercially available until long after the year of the opening scene.
  • A being reconstructed from DNA would not possess the knowledge of its predecessor, and would certainly not reproduce a former tattoo.
  • Autowash would come on when a shower is deployed, not stowed.
  • DNA cannot be nested, since its twin spirals are joined by radial spokes.
  • DNA does not need to be more tightly packed, for primitive animals have far more DNA than humans do - quantity does not equal complexity. In fact the living organism with the most DNA is the humble water lily.
  • The instructions in DNA are analogous to those in origami: an embryo develops by consecutively folding cellular structures. DNA does not provide any description of the completed form. The process shown is as impractical, but more so, as trying to manufacture a paper airplane or flamingo in the final state, rather than folding a sheet of paper.
  • Other passengers less athletic than Dallas could never haul themselves up into the miniature cabins aboard the space-plane.
  • The ball of fire casts a shadow upon a point on the ground from which the sun is still visible on the horizon.
  • Dallas has one last match with which to save the entire world, yet he holds it flame up, rather than flame down to ensure the wood lights.
  • As the police inform Leeloo that she has nowhere else to go, their view along the ventilation duct shows approaching traffic, instead of the building opposite.
  • Billy trips over backwards, firing his gun up at the ceiling, yet the bullets travel horizontally to strike the aliens' midriffs.
  • Cornelius describes two different stones as representing fire.
  • Just before Zorg sets the clock to 20:00, the lock of hair over his left eye flips around, even though his hands were full.
  • Leeloo is supposed to be a perfectly formed being, yet her skull has two small faults above the right eye socket.
  • Once the match is going, its angle changes as Dallas lowers it.
  • The reconstruction machine wraps thermal bandages around Leeloo's body, yet she ends up with an extra bandage between her crotch & neck.
  • How was it intended that Dallas or someone else would actually acquire the stones if the courier had not been so conveniently killed? Everybody only knew that the diva had the stones in her possession. Nobody was ever informed that the stones were actually inside her body. She even traveled with a chest that acted as a decoy. So, Korben, Zorg, and the Mangalores all expected to simply take the stones and not surgically or forcibly remove them from the diva's body. If there was a way to get the stones into her, there was likely a way to get them out without killing the diva, and the diva's assistant even implies as much to Leeloo, telling her she'll get the stones after the concert. Korben digging them out of the diva's body after she dies was simply an act of necessity given the circumstances.
  • Of all the flying taxis in New York, Leeloo just happens to fall into the only one being flown by a semi-retired secret agent.
  • The hotel bomb detection system takes ten minutes to detect the bomb, indeed it only sets off the alarms when Ruby Rhod mentions this.
  • Why is the latest in a long line of Egyptian guardian-priests, who carries the alien key to the secret tomb, living thousands of miles away in New York?
  • Leeloo is meant to be so strong that she can break through walls, yet the wall she 'smashes' has all the strength of cooking foil.
  • The crack in the chamber is visible before Leeloo punches through.
  • The bomb explodes two seconds after the timer reaches zero.
  • Three of the stones are placed so that their markings align with the corresponding symbol on the plinth, the exception being the stone thanks to which the riddle is solved. This more complicated prop is placed upside-down, presumably due to a mistake in its construction.
  • When Leeloo shields her eyes against the light from the police cruiser, the shadow of her hands does not fall over her eyes.
  • How does the little snouty creature living in Zorg's desk breathe when it isn't needed?
  • During the Plavalaguna's performance the house lights remain on at their full level.
  • After finding frozen General Munro in his fridge, Korben start closing the fridge door while General Munro is closing his eyes, even though he is frozen.
  • The movie switches from ancient Egypt to the future and notes on screen it is three hundred years later, but a personal affect of Corbin's has a date of 2263 on it, making it about three hundred and forty-nine years later.
  • Corbin activates a bomb with spikes on it and throws it up onto the ceiling and says, "Count to ten", yet the bomb doesn't go off for twenty-three seconds.
  • The four symbols for earth, wind, water and air, as seen on the temple wall in the beginning, are different from each other, albeit similar. When recreated, supposedly, on the buckle of the belt of the priest at 12'49" the symbols are in a different order and two are identical.
  • When Fr. Vita Cornelius and Leeloo surprise Korben Dallas at his apartment, Cornelius calls Korben Dallas "Mr 'Willis"~ Bruce Willis's real last name, Korben corrects him saying "Dallas". They leave this little gem in the movie, and kept right on filming. Cornelius makes the same mistake (calling Dallas "Willis") when Dallas first brings Leeloo to the priest's apartment, so it's probably a deliberate error.
  • During the multi event scene of the flight taking off for Fhloston Paradise, the landing gear are raised but the audio is of a Boeing airliner landing gear being lowered.
  • When Father Cornelius bursts into Dallas's apartment, he accidentally calls him Mr. Willis. Dallas simply corrects him by saying, "Dallas."
  • A few minutes after Leeloo crashes through the roof of Korben's flying taxi, he zooms away with her from a flying police "car" that has pulled alongside his taxi. As he speeds away (at 35:58 in the movie), a sound like squealing tires is clearly audible. This should be impossible for a flying vehicle with no wheels (although it does make for a nice dramatization of the moment).
  • When Corbyn and the priest enter the lift during the hotel evacuation the priest is clearly looking across at the other lift door to synchronise his entrance with Zorg's exit.
  • When Corban Dallas is taking out the stones from the Diva's body and placing them into his jacket, sleeves on his shirt are alright, but right in the next scene, with this character, sleeves on his shirt are ripped and ragged, completely messed up. Scene, that is explaining, what happened with his sleeves is missing.
  • Since all Zorg was wanting the stones for was to keep The Fifth Element from stopping the meteor, then having just one would have been sufficient since it takes all four to complete the task. However, Zorg is acting as a mercenary for "Mr. Shadow" (aka the meteor, which is actually a sentient manifestation of evil). Mr. Shadow wants all four stones, presumably to destroy them. So Zorg is getting all four stones because that's what he was contracted to do. Zorg himself seems to care less about what the stones actually do or their true nature as he does about getting rewarded for delivering all four stones to Mr. Shadow as agreed.
  • When Dallas surrenders to the Mangalores, he raises his hands to shoulder height. But in a following close-up, his right arm is hanging at his side and he raises it again.
  • When Ruby tells the stewardess he's never felt this way about a human, her head tilts to the left, then in the next shot is tilted to the right.
  • After the crypt is opened, the camera shows an overhead view of the vault. As the camera shows the Fifth Element, a hand print can be seen clearly in the dust on the right shoulder.
  • When the 4 element stones are positioned on their appropriate pedestals to get ready to save Earth from the approaching fire ball, the first one (wind) is initially positioned upside down from the others, with its carved symbolism towards the top, away from its pedestal. In later scenes, the stone is turned around, to be consistent with the other three.
  • When David is first seen at Fr Cornelius's house he speaks with an obvious English accent. However as the movie progresses his accent becomes more and more American.
  • During the lunch bet scene, when Mr. Kim reads the message to Korben, he opens the envelope and reads out loud "You are fired!" in a humorous manner. However, when we see the letter in a close up a few seconds later, it actually reads a way more formal message: "Notice of termination of your contract, effective as of today."
  • When Staedert presents Cornelius, he introduces him as an "expert of astrophenomenon". However, this should be "expert of astrophenomena".
  • At about 55 minutes into the film, before Zorg starts choking on a cheery, he is never actually seen eating the cherry. He holds it in his hand, drinks some water, starts choking, and later chokes up the cherry.

  • When Korben Dallas takes the stones out of the Diva's body and places them into his jacket, the sleeves on his shirt are alright, but right in the next scene with this character, the sleeves on his shirt are ripped and ragged, completely messed up. A scene explaining what happened with his sleeves is missing.
  • In the beginning of the movie when they are at the temple, the Mondoshawan gets stuck in the door of the secret chamber, however at the end of the movie when they re-enter the temple supposedly 300 years later, the Mondoshawan is completely gone with no trace. But you don't see the entrance to the temple so it is possible it is still there or since it has been about 300 years since the beginning it is possible that the Mondoshawans went back and retrieved their lost friend. Or that David found a way to move the Mondoshawan body when preparing the temple; obviously, he opened the door that originally crushed the Mondoshawan.
  • When the head Mangalore gets shot in the head in the 'negotiation', the remains of the explosive device are visible in the prosthetic mask.
  • How did the Mangalores know the stones were on Pholoston? Zorg learned of their location by bugging the President's office, but there is no scene showing how they came by the same information.
  • How did the Mangalores know the stones were on Pholoston Paradise? There is no scene showing how they came by that information.
