Other tellings of the Frankenstein story depict Dr. Frankenstein as tragic, troubled, closeted, etc. This trendsetting Hammer Horror film asks: what if he's actually just a very bad person?
Will SloanJan 18, 2021This is an excellent retelling of Shelley’s exemplary irreproachable tale via Hammer and the wonderful Terry Fisher, dialing in on the gothic atmos that would eventually become the studios trademark and bringing this story to an entire new generation of genre fans and soon…

Slig001Oct 13, 2021The story of Frankenstein has never been my favorite classic horror tale, but you gimme Cushing, Lee, and Fisher telling the tale and I am 👏here👏for👏it👏 Absolutely gorgeous set pieces are the real centerpiece of this movie. Luscious costumes, foggy atmosphere, just all…

Peter Cushing & Christopher Lee as the monster are great as expected, and the look is great too, but they didn't really do anything that stands out with the movie itself because I'd rather just watch the original from 1931 than ever revisit this version again.
I loved this. Completely inaccurate to the book but brilliant in its own right. I find it hard to believe that those boys were not specifically supposed to be gay
