The movie is a very slow paced movie, with a buildup you'd feel would be amazing, but left something to be desired at the end. It just... ends. A very dialogue heavy movie, the trailer practically spoils the most interesting moments. See it if you're a fan of the book, but don't expect much action. You'd forget it was set during the civil war if they didn't call John a "Blue Belly" every third line.

really this film was not a "must see," I was very excited to see this adaptation and it all felt careless and poorly done. The actors give flawless performances, but the writing is full exposition. the cinematography is very specific, But the specificity is in vain as it adds nothing to film itself. Same goes for the direction, some scenes could have been deleted all together as again, they added little or nothing to the story overall.

The movie was some what boring great actors but boring

The Beguiled is a slow-burn tale of repressed sexuality and duplicitous doings. Its final twist, though, steals it from the realm of male-gaze fantasies into sheer nightmare territory.
