  • In the first shot of Lori's apartment in the beginning, the crew across the street are reflected in the first floor window.

  • When John and Lori are in her car talking after Ted gets them to talk, the Christian Science Bookstore in the background alternates between having lights on and lights off in the store.
  • When John and Lori arrive at Donny's house in Chelsea to rescue Ted, they drive the wrong way on Chestnut Street (a one-way street). Donny leaves, with Lori and John following, going the wrong way on Pine St. (also a one-way street).

  • When Lori and John are in bed (before the thunder) John's right arm goes from behind his head to on his chest between shots.
  • When Ted is giving Tammy Lynn the dirty fozzie, a worker and boxes are in the background. In the next shot, the boxes are gone, replaced by customers. In the next shot, the boxes return.
  • Lori gets out of the shower with full make up on.
  • During John and Lori's anniversary dinner at the restaurant, after John says "Let's just enjoy our anniversary dinner", the view of the street outside is clearly waving, as if it were a printed on a canvas and made to look like the outside of the restaurant.
  • During the car chase, they drive through the Ted Williams Tunnel and arrive at Fenway Park soon after. To They would have had to drive back through the tunnel.
  • (at around 1h 25 mins) A car drives left to right at an intersection. A sign that says "Left Turn Only," which would suggest it is a one-way street going to the left.
  • In the bathroom fight scene when John falls into the bath, his hands go from clasped together on his chest to out sideways either side of him in sequential shots.
  • The "Action News Georgia" backdrop shows damage to the Westin Peachtree Plaza. The scene is set in 1985, and the damage is from a tornado that hit downtown Atlanta in 2008.
  • When Donny and Robert kidnap Ted, he escapes into the bathroom to call John for help. He calls from a land-line phone. Donny ends the call by disconnecting the telephone wire from the wall, yet there is a dial tone. A land-line phone would go completely silent once its cord became disconnected.
  • When Ted is first introduced to the parents, the cord around the electric egg beater changes position several times.
  • When Rex goes to talk to Lori at her office desk, his hair is combed back. In the next shot, his hair is a different style with more camera light. In the next shot, it's back to the original combed back look with darker camera lighting.

  • After Sam Jones punches Ted's wall, before Ted's Cantonese neighbor Ming confronts him, his hands show no sign of injury.
  • When John goes to talk to Guy at work, a trash can appears by John's desk that wasn't there in the first shot.
  • Near the end of the movie, the characters are able to sneak into Fenway Park with little difficulty due to a garage door being partially left open. This obviously would not be the case in real life. Also, with no baseball game going on and no cleaning crew visible, the stadium lights would not be left on for no reason.
  • John's hair length changes throughout the movie.
  • When John and Ted are watching Flash Gordon (1980), the scene with Ming and Flash appears right after the title and theme. It should appear later in the film.

  • When Donny crashes his Volvo into the fire hydrant, his airbag fails to deploy. However, in the next close-up shot, a deflated airbag protrudes from the steering wheel.
  • Ted is a living teddy bear, unlike any other in the world. While the film proposes that eventually his novelty wore off and that he ran through the money he made at the height of his fame, it never explains how or why there wouldn't have been endless interest in Ted and thus an endless source of income for him. In fact, the film goes out of its way to demonstrate that Ted is still quite well- known throughout the film and yet for some reason he still needs to get a job and earn a living.
  • When Ted gets ripped in half, Donny throws Ted off the tower with his left arm. In the very next shot of Ted still falling, Donny is holding on to the tower with his left arm with his right arm free.
  • It takes Donny some effort to climb the tower at Fenway Park. However, when Ted hits the field after being ripped in half, Donny is instantaneously on solid ground and attempting to flee.

  • Lori's VW rear-ended Donny's Volvo hard enough that the airbags should have deployed.
  • John and Ted cause hundreds of dollars in damage to the hotel room when they were fighting and the two somehow don't face charges for vandalism.
  • There was no way John could had avoided serious to critical injuries when the TV fell on him. He should had suffered a broken pelvis and ribs at least.
  • John proposes to Lori while standing. Traditionally men especially in Western cultures propose on one knee.

  • When Ted gets torn in half, his "I love you" voice box is nowhere to be seen. From the scene after the Flash Gordon (1980) party, it should be right in the middle of his chest.
  • The narrator says John and Lori got married in Cambridge, but the limo pulls away from the church in Boston's South End.
  • When John and Lori are in the apartment at the end of the movie, her hands are alternately on either side of his neck and crossed behind his neck between shots.
  • When John and Lori get to the dismembered Ted, there are no Morse code symbols on the Green Monster scoreboard in the background.
