Synopsis
Oscar winner Cillian Murphy delivers a stunning performance as devoted father Bill Furling in this film based on the best-selling novel of the same name by Claire Keegan. This was a very artsy film. Beautiful cinematic atmosphere. The film was slow and hard to follow, but I was still able to appreciate it. It told a raw and real story.
A phenomenal film that shines light on the horrific history of the Catholic Church in Ireland. My eyes were absolutely glued to the screen from beginning to end while watching this film. The amount of scenes with zero dialogue that have so much atmosphere & emotion is superb.
Heartbreaking story brought incredibly by a director from my very own country (Belgium) that's something that can only make me proud. Small Things Like These ends where most films would normally start, and illustrates the soul crushing power of the church in Ireland at its time.

7/10 shines light on subject matter and the treatment. Was surprised to see this was happening upto 1998? (Started in the 1920s)…. Worth a watch.
Visuals were really good but man that pace is slow. Obviously a good story but kinda didn’t do it for me

It’s an electric, atmospheric, and deeply soulful look at what it means to be human, what it means to have empathy, and how faith should never come before people.
It’s a profound performance by Murphy – perhaps even more so in fewer words than Oppenheimer – as Bill’s anger burns with tragic urgency.
Keegan chose a man of few words to make his stand, and Murphy, very much the man of the moment, steps up to play him with a heroic understatement that could move mountains.
