Very cute and wholesome movie. A Coming-of-age story about a boy growing up in Dublin in the 80s inspired by the music of this era to write his own and start a humble band with schoolmates. The original music featured in the film is excellent and echoes the 80s style.

As he did with Once, Carney with the somewhat autobiographical Sing Street mixes hardscrabble realism with highly charged romanticism, filmed on a low budget with mostly unknown talent.
