Oscar Loser Saoirse RonanMar 15, 2024A very special movie. A reminder that in a broken system that only seeks to oppress, art serves not only as catharsis, but as liberation.

a tremendously tenderhearted tribute to the therapeutic power of the artistic process, overflowing with honesty and humanity in every single scene thanks to what is not only the ensemble of the year, but also one for the ages.

This swells the heart. It’s a totally different type of prison film. And it is deeply moving. Ideas that stuck with me: Anyone can change + grow. Anyone can learn to love and feel. Trust the process. Try again and again. Give generously. Men need to be more vulnerable.

Finding joy through acting, in a program to give prisoners a sense of humanity, really made me emotional. The fact that the majority of these actors played themselves makes it all the better. One of the most powerful and authentic films of the year. 8.5
Found it inspirational and touched even this cold hardened heart of mine. Maybe most people know this going in but big twist at the end that the majority of the actors are the actual people the story is based on, you never would have known.
