Atom User Reviews for Russ Taff: I Still Believe
A brutally and beautifully honest life story. Hearing the old songs from "back in the day" was wonderful. The Taff family shared with us the redemptive work of a God who always loves His children . Russ and Tori have two beautiful daughters. May Russ continue to be an overcomer by the Blood of the Lamb and the Word of his testimony. James & Sherry Marshall ~ Miami, Florida
I’m so glad Russ and Tori were willing to be vulnerable in sharing their heartbreak, pain and healing . Everyone should see this.
This is a story of a man’s and his family’s real battle with suppressed hurt and anger. We rarely see the internal pain that many people deal with, talented and gifted though they might be. There is grace, forgiveness, and healing that came come through the deepest trials of life, and this movie tells that story of redemption. Must see!
This is a life story narratated by Russ, Tori and other interviews. Different from other movies, where scenes are acted, this story uses real interviews and actual footage from past events. It’s a raw look at Russ behind the mask of a stage or public persona. Russ reveals a man genuinely broken, healed and freed through the redemption of Christ. It moves a bit slow at times but still a gripping story and testimony. Just as Russ’s music touched thousands, so too can his personal story. The words of his song still ring true—“The chain that seem to bind you serve only to remind you that they drop powerless behind you...” God still works through imperfect people with scars. .
I have loved his music since the early 80's and his songs have ministered to me. Now hearing this story makes him seem so much more human and flawed like me. Thank you for sharing.
So good to understand where his lyrics came from. His music got me through the darkest days...if he only knew.
Fantastic. It has to be available on DVD. Thank God Russ opened himself to do it. Everyone can learn from this story.
A real life story of a true legend’s struggle with abuse and the affect it creates with self-worth and suppressing the hurt and shame.
Inspiring story of God's grace. Great music and powerful story.
Shows the power of God and His love and mercy for us. Also a beautiful love story.
REAL. Real pain, Real addiction, Real talent, Real people, Real love by a Real Savior. “There is nothing too hard for God”
Awesome, inspiring movie!!!
What a great movie!!!!
I grew up with Russ’s songs. We are all so very thankful that we have a High Priest who can sympathize with our every weakness. Russ’s life story is a demonstration of Christ made strong in our weakness, and Russ tells it with boldness. Praise the Lord! (BTW... my favorite of his many marvelous songs).
Such a beautiful, honest reminder that we being a Christian isn't about being PREFECT! It's about being FORGIVEN. We have loved Russ for decades, now even more!!!
Inspiring and very moving story about Russ Taff’s life, marriage, and how he found true peace and healing for his soul through his faith in God. Wonderful movie!
A wonderful, true life story of God’s Amazing Love and Grace for us all. The film shows us how patient Our God is in helping us be redeemed by His blood.. In our sin and in our shame He is there to pick us up and Love us with an everlasting Love.. Blessed is His Name!!!
Very good. Great testimony.
Most of us look at the guys on the stage as “Together”. This true story shows that ALL of us need redemption. All of us need Jesus. The good news is He is there for ALL of us! Beautifully told and inspiring.
Hoping for the home version to come out. Will purchase and share with loved ones and friends!
I had many favorite parts in this movie but the part that touched me the most was how the Christian community (that knew the truth) came around Russ Taff with prayer and love, without judgement. They realized their brother was in pain and rose up to support and help him the best way they knew how. And that was by not contributing to a tabloid headline! This is a real story of the power of love and forgiveness and one man's journey through depression and addiction. Climaxing to the truth and realization that Christ was with him every step of the way and never stopped loving him. Thank you Russ for being vulnerable and sharing your story. Love never fails. John 13:34-35
If this movie doesn’t touch you, something is wrong. Immediately seek help.
Heartbreaking to learn that the kind, fun, loving man I worked with during those years was so engulfed in pain. . . the ultimate love story--Russ, Tori, their family--only the God of Creation through His Son could set them free!!! Praise God Russ is finally free!!
I love Russ Taff. I love his music, and I love the man. More of us should have the courage to make themselves as vulnerable as he did. I do wish Tori had shared more on what her feelings were about God throughout their ordeal. And I could have done w/o the ending. It was the very definition of anti-climax. I would like to know the story about why, I Still Believe, was not allowed in the movie. BTW, there is a scene in the movie that will take your breath away!
Tremendous courage, and awesome Grace shown brightly in this inspiring story. This guy was beat down, yet kept fighting.
What a picture of God's endless mercy, grace, and love. I just re-lived all my college days...when Russ was at his pinnacle. What courage for him to share his journey, despite the darkness that permeated his life. This is a must see.
People were sobbing in the theater and it's been a long time since I've been to a movie where no one got up until all the credits were finished
Loved this movie. Great story of overcoming. Thank you for telling it!!
Well told story. Inspiring to anyone with addictions.
I know the Taffs personally and this is a true and honest story of Russ's battle. I'm so proud that Russ and Tori were willing to share their scars and let the world see it in order to help others.
Incredible! My wife and I sincerely enjoyed this powerful, true story.
The Russ Taff story is inspiring and a true example of how God loves us, never gives up on us, and is still in the business of healing people, lives and working miracles! Highly recommend it!
Made me look inside and see how I was dealing with my own pain.
Very moving and inspiring. Raw and real
I went expecting a nostalgic musical retrospective. Instead I saw Amazing Grace at work in the life of one of my childhood heroes. It was encouraging and inspiring. Definitely two hours well spent.
Truly unvarnished story of faith and the upmost redemption. A true love story at it's roots. A man and his faith, a man and the love/loves of his life!! I only wish it had showcased Russ's tremendous singing much more to bring to light what an amazing artist he was and is.
Proves that God uses flawed people to accomplish His purposes. Millions inspired by Russ Taff's ministry while he was battling his own demons.
God is in the business of using broken people. He does it in the Bible and He is still doing it in Russ Taff's life. His music touched so many lives even when his was broken. May God richly bless this man and his family and all who have been broken by life. It's on our knees where we find God.
Excellent film about the realities behind the man. A lot of dialogue that came straight from the heart. Also informative concerning the rise to fame of Russ Taff. Would watch it again.
Good autobiography however, spent too much time on Taff's addiction to alcohol. I realize that his addiction was a major cross to bear but it would have been more encouraging to the viewers to see how his life changed after his spiritual cleansing.
Such a wonderful true story of God’s amazing grace!
It is a wonderful expression of Gods Grace.it expresses important issues we all need to face. A big thank you to Russ Taff for opening up and showing us his life. We all have something to learn from it!
Such an honest and brave thing to tell your story warts and all. Surrounded by the body of Christ the way it is supposed to act he found his way back home. Loved seeing so many of my favorite artists sharing their memories of him as well. Highly recommend.
Wonderful story of pain and restoration! We need more true life stories of the power of God and His grace in the lives of His children. Very moved by Russ' wife Tori, and her strength and love. Added delight was the interaction and music of Amy Grant and Steven Curtis Chapmen.
Redemption piece by piece..... God doing what He alone can do.... use us and restore us bit by bit. Love the honesty in the telling and walked away with hope for my own broken places.
It demonstrates that we all live in a broken world. This is not a movie in the sense that the story is acted out - just told. Cannot be compared to "I Can Only Imagine"
Mercy, Grace. Forgiveness, Love! A movie that shows how we need to respond to our brothers & sisters in Christ who are suffering with addiction, depression & shame!
It was a great mix of music, love story, highs, lows, etc. I would definitely recommend it to anyone.
An amazing, inspiring, healing love story.
