It’s basically Green Book but with autism instead of racism.

ashleyOct 27, 2022I just finished a book about the history of Autism/Aspergers and one of the last chapters was about the production of Rain Man. I figured it was going to be hyper critical but it was actually insanely pro Rain Man. The short version is that no one wanted to make this…

This movie made me want a brother. It’s heartfelt, it’s funny, and it will tear a hole through your chest. This movie has flaws, sure, but it more than makes up for it. There are so many moments that are flying through my head while typing this that just make my heart sink.
A special experience of well done drama, well deserving of the 4 Oscar wins! Rain Man incorporates moving drama, timeless scenery and unbelievable performance It's meticulously written, impressively, directed, engaging, moving, touching, and above all that.

9/10 - What a film, so good. Such a wholesome story of a man and his older brother. At first he considers his brother a burden because of his disability, but later he finds out how special he really is. Beautiful film, the end was a tear jerker for sure. Dustin & Tom were great.
definitely worth the watch for sure. one of those movies you gotta watch to say you've seen it.

Everything in this movie is fudged ever so humanistically, in a perfuctory, low-pressure way. And the picture has its effectiveness: people are crying at it. Of course they're crying at it - it's a piece of wet kitsch. [6 Feb 1989]
Rain Man's restraint is, finally, rather like Raymond's gabble. It discourages connections, keeping you out instead of drawing you in. [19 Dec 1998]
There've been few screen moments more moving this year than Cruise's initial reaction to his brother's almost superhuman math prowess. [16 Dec 1988]
