barbie (2023) but for mentally ill people
LaraOct 15, 2023Bella, where the hell have you been, loca?
ashDec 17, 2023I saw someone refer to this as a "female version of Frankenstein" which is funny because Frankenstein was written by a (brilliant) woman and this was quite obviously written by a man.

This was my Barbie. Did a far better job exploring the depth of womanhood and led you to the reason behind the cruelty of humanity. Emma Stone gives a career-defining performance as Bella that you’ll likely never forget. Comedic, contemplative, cuckoo, and everything in between.
this thinly veiled pedophilic fantasy poses “what if a newborn was a sex addict?” and “what if that was feminism?”. if the graphic sexual assault was removed from this nearly 2.5 hr long film, there would be almost nothing left. revolting & violently unprofound - DO NOT WATCH

9.8 - ART. It’s a visceral experience, through & through. Parts were deeply uncomfortable, others wholly moving. Emma Stone gives an all time performance. Lanthimos’s fingerprints are everywhere but it’s entirely unique. I flirted with a perfect score. I NEED a rewatch. Incredible.
Weird, very weird, but oh so good. Might be too grotesque for a casual rec to someone, but thought provoking yet brutally funny.
Genuinely disturbing like all Yorgos Lanthinmos movies. Bizzare and weirdly unsettling. I love weird but not the creepy type that throws sex at you every ten seconds. Yes, it was mediorcely realistic, but It lost all meaning in this beautifully twisted world building. The sounds, acting, script,…

Idk what people are on. Just because something is weird doesn’t mean it’s good. This movie didn’t say anything that an average woman hasn’t thought at the age of 12. Grotesque and unnecessary sex scenes that don’t add to the movie
a pedophilic fantasy disguised as feminism. i regret not leaving the theatre sooner. disgusting movie

So no one is going to even acknowledge the fact that the main character has the brain of a child and is engaging in horrifically lewd sexual activity?? Pedophilic and disgusting. I love Yorgos' style, creativity and originality, but this was absolutely abhorrent. As a…
CCCajun CzeeJust cuz Ema Stone acts in a movie does not mean its gonna be good. there were no warning signs of this movie being so creepy and R++ rated.. I thought 2023 movie Menu was bad ,, but this one tops that. walked out of theater after suffering for 40 Minutes.
SSShereen Smisleading movie, very horrible, not comedy as stated, false trailer and depictions.

Terrible! This movie has ross nudity, low budget, bad writing, nothing good to even say about the first 30 minutes, we left after that and we weren’t the first to walk out either. Worst movie I have gone to hands down. 0 stars!
STSonflower TJust awful & obscene! I hadn’t read anything about the movie before going in, but I liked Emma Stone and thought I would give it a go. Big mistake! I wasn’t expecting the sex-crazed character portrayed by Emma Stone. I walked out, when I couldn’t tolerate sitting through…

this had SO MUCH potential. and my disappointment has nothing to do with the sex scenes, more so the context and nuance behind them (emma stones character is literally a child in an adults body) and the gross lack of actual story. the movie could have started so many…
MCMelynnda ChanLots of sex scenes. Bizarre and quirky film. Girl meets world and feminism. Sexual awakening of Frankenstein.
KBKeith BrownAstoundingly weird, grotesque in places, and darkly humorous. Had a great time with it
