Did You Know?
- Julieta Serrano's first collaboration with Pedro Almodóvar in almost thirty years. They had previously worked together on many of his 1980s films: Pepi, Luci, Bom and Other Girls Like Mom (1980), Dark Habits (1983), Matador (1986), Tie Me Up! Tie Me Down! (1989) and, most famously, Women on the Verge of a Nervous Breakdown (1988).
- Salvador Mallo: The nights that coincide several pains, those nights I believe in God and I pray to him. The days when I only suffer a type of pain I'm an atheist.

Almodovar creates an absolutely beautiful story about a man who is coming to terms with his older self. Wonderfully written and very inspired acting. Antonio Banderas and the entire cast were marvelous!
I’ll never get that 1.5 hours back in my life, so I left after 45 mins.
The film is one of the most meditative of Almodóvar’s career. ... It makes for less energetic and, yes, less exciting filmmaking. But “Pain and Glory” is a beautiful meditation on past and present, a memory piece that will nourish rather than provoke.
The effect is a patchwork rather than an interwoven whole; the wistfully self-reflexive tone will appeal to fans of the less emphatic, more meditative end of the Almodovar spectrum.
