Atom User Reviews
If I could’ve left it more stars I would’ve.
I’m a huge Nolan fan. Other than the atomic blast it was too all over the place. Interrogation scenes were boring. Music was overbearing in many moments and the sex scenes felt more about doing something artistic rather than necessary for the story. Matt Damon was great. RDJ was ok. I thought Cillian Murphy was really good too. Emily blunt and Florence Pugh were also good but underutilized for their talent. Lots of star power but it felt like a bunch of TikTok sequences strung together. Snippets of the Oppy’s life.
Metacritic
Oppenheimer sacrifices much of its dramatic force to the importance of its subject, and to Nolan’s pride at having tackled it—which is to say, to his own self-importance.
Ever the craftsperson, rarely the artist, Nolan has constructed a grand and terrible machine, a fascinating object of cinema and a deeply frustrating work of imagination.

It’s powerful, a technically dazzling achievement; so audacious is Nolan’s filmmaking that if it didn’t serve the story you’d think at times he was just showing off. He’s not.
