Writer-director Susanna Nicchiarelli burrows deeply into the manic, drug-addicted, yet creative final two years of Christa Päffgen (Trine Dyrholm). Christa, known better as “Nico”, was a former model, vocalist for the Velvet Underground, Warhol muse and actress in several films, including Fellini’s La Dolce Vita and Warhol’s Chelsea Girls. At the outset of the film, Nico’s manager, Richard (John Gordon Sinclair), attempts to focus her life and sets up a European tour for her. Dyrholm’s mesmerizing performance captures the frustration and heartbreak of Nico's final years, especially as Nico attempts to reconcile with her estranged son, Ari. Also starring: Anamaria Marinca, Sandor Funtek, Thomas Trabacchi, Karina Feernandez, Calvin Demba, and Francesco Colella.
