I don’t buy the central romance of this movie at all, but I DO buy the coolness of Bill Paxton, who sells it so hard he’s on the poster despite being neither the central protagonist or antagonist!! He’s good! So is the bar scene and the shoot out! The movie fun!
demi adejuyigbeMar 22, 2020Shoutout to Lance Henrickson for rocking the most evil rattail in movie history
Patrick WillemsMay 24, 2020One thing I really love about this idea of placing the southern outlaw neo-western into a vampire horror context is that the already elemental qualities of scorching sun and dry landscape become even more dangerous: the way Bigelow applies this in the motel shootout for…

love when the main vampire girl is looking at the stars saying she’s going to be alive for a billion years then she accidentally stays out so late the sun almost kills her. literally every night in the movie they all do this
Mike GinnDec 9, 2019The night has its price. Southern gothic neon outlaw vampires—100% my thing... a very specific moody nocturnal jam with a cast to die for, a legendary bar scene to die for, and a Tangerine Dream score to die for. As far as 1987 vampire movies go, The Lost Boys is cool and…

serious question of the day: why the hell didn't Tangerine Dream just score every film that came out in the 70s and 80s?
Eli HayesMar 5, 2023I love the way this movie's paced, where you start off with what feels like a cold open of a soulful drifter vampire dropping a Norm MacDonald amount of obvious hints that she's a vampire to an unsuspecting rube. But the whole movie's the cold open. It just keeps going…
Branson ReeseJan 5, 2016"I'm afraid" "Don't be. It's just the sun." Listen to the stars, but carefully because there's a price for the night. Bigelow (and co-screenwriter Eric Red) does such a great job of turning euro-romanticism into americana, it remains deeply moving even if it is a nasty…

Underrated and ahead of its time. It's no wonder why Kathryn Bigelow and James Cameron got along when you see the similarities in their work, and had this been a little stronger, I would be calling it the "Terminator" of vampire films. Strong casting, shallow character development. Compelling…
idk i think in theory this movie slays like vampire cowboy YAASSSS…. but i think it tried to do too much and fell flat. i think it did a good job of portraying that rural american vampire but it overall just confused me. like in what world does farmboy vampire fear killing……

Some parts dragged on and I wish the main character would have just picked a lane so we could get some proper character development. Honestly though, the other characters were what truly made the movie a solid vampire flick. Would recommend.
Beautifully shot in that specifically 80s way. Full of silhouettes and backlight and beams of light. Bill Paxton especially shines. The story is fine, but the whole spectacle of it all is what really works. Good watch overall.

The ultimate vampire hitchhiker movie. A must see. Lance Henrikson and Bill Paxton chewed scenery and the rest of the cast weren't slacking either
This was very interesting vampire take with some great actors. I can see why it’s a cult favorite.
