Good movie overall, it's not fast paced, but also not slow. Edward Norton shows how good of an actor he is
Good story, good plot, good actors. But fairly slow pace and muted resolutions. Plays like an old school detective flick but doesn't quite pull it off - just feels too modern, like it didn't fully commit to the period.
One of the best movies I have seen in a long time!
Great cast good story
Ed’s performance is Oscar worthy! As wasAlexBadwin
I found this movie intriguing. The scary thing about it was that it reminded me of Trump's behavior uhhhh!
I can’t believe that Edward Norton wrote, produced, directed, and starred in this!! I’m so impressed. The storyline was great. Surprises throughout. Mysteries. Fantastic dialogue. Subtle humour. If you like jazz, you’ll love seeing this in the theatre.
Edward Norton at his best.
Great story but the movie was just too slow. And the dream he had when he was in the water, etc. wasn't necessary for this type of story. What role did the Horowitz character play at all?? It was so slow that it didn't flow. Someone else should try again to make a movie from that story. And please, tell Alec Baldwin to try not to act like Trump all the time.
it happened to be a really good movie with room to spare in improvement
Great performance by Ed Norton

This is a solid and enjoyable mystery flick, but through all the twists, turns, tics and twitches Motherless Brooklyn works hard to impart its message. And what ultimately comes out is somewhat hollow.
The upshot of all this, two hours and 24 minutes of vintage car chases, fire escape chases, punch-outs and puzzling over clues? “It’s NOT ‘Chinatown,’ Jake.”
If the screenplay pulls at threads that don’t always pay off, the actors and the thoughtful cinematography of veteran Dick Pope always ensure that there’s something engaging to watch onscreen. A sequence set in the jazz club, during which the jumpy music and Lionel’s mental and physical state merge into an intuitive singularity, is a real standout.
