Did You Know?
- Edward Norton was originally set to reprise his role from The Incredible Hulk (2008), but negotiations between him and Marvel Studios broke down. Norton was replaced with Mark Ruffalo, who had also been considered for the role in the prior movie.
- The reception scene said to take place in Stuttgart, Germany, was clearly filmed in the U.S. (Cleveland, in fact) There are no such skyscraper buildings in Stuttgart as seen in the background. All S-Class Mercedeses shown are U.S.-spec-models, easily recognizable by the yellow front side marker lights. Furthermore, Königstrasse is mainly a shopping street, and Königstrasse 22, in particular, is a shopping arcade containing, among a dozen shops, two cinemas. There is no building in the vicinity higher than half a dozen floors, and Königstrasse 22 opens on the street, not on a square. Furthermore, Stuttgart has no elevated trains, which can be seen in the background of the square scene.

Avengers 1 in IMAX 3D was absolutely mindblowing! To see Loki, Thor, Iron Man, all in my favorite movie so detailed and seemingly real... Wow!! I've had some poor 3D experiences in the past. This was NOT one of them!!
The banter has zip, the effects are fun, the climactic battle is decently spectacular, and if the 3-D is mostly expendable, there are a few scenes where it adds a nice kick.
The picture is broken down into narrative chunks that ultimately don't tell much of a story – what you get instead is a series of mini-climaxes held together by banter between characters.
Whedon and his cohorts have managed to stir all the personalities and ingredients together so that the resulting dish, however familiar, is irresistibly tasty again.
