Dr. Strange in IMAX 3D was an incredible experience! Because of how much of a visual masterpiece the movie is on its own, seeing in IMAX 3D is a MUST!! 😁 Not to mention, you just become so much closer to Strange and the Ancient One watching the movie this way. I had a really great experience tonight. Doctor Strange is truly a deep and spiritual film about overcoming ego and finding something greater than yourself. Belief. 💜
Little by little, though, unfunniness takes hold. Stephen’s training grows interminable. The mysticism turns deadly serious. The effects turn repetitious: Worst of all, the plot loses its way just as Stephen is coming into his own as a worthy antagonist of Kaecilius, a villain — or is he? — played with hollow-eyed intensity by Mads Mikkelsen.
The film is surprisingly engaging. It’s fun.
To his credit, director Scott Derrickson...navigates through the different zones with a fair degree of actual coherence, and delivers the entire package with evident ease and some flair.

Did You Know?
- According to Kevin Feige, the concept of magic in the Marvel Cinematic Universe is inspired by The Matrix (1999) and the fantasy works of Stanley Kubrick and Hayao Miyazaki. "Have you watched the Cosmos (1980) series? That's magic, the quantum physics. If somebody knew how to tap into that stuff, what's the difference between that and magic? You don't get into it in Harry Potter, but if a scientist went to Hogwarts, he'd find out how some of that stuff is happening! We're not going to spend a lot of time on it, but there will be some of that, particularly for a character like Doctor Strange, who goes from a man of science to a man of faith and who traverses both worlds. And sometimes there won't be an answer! Sometimes he'll want an answer--'How is this happening?'--and nothing," said Feige.
- After going through his clean up routine, Strange attaches his own mask. A surgeon would never risk doing that before such a serious operation. In fact a surgeon would put on his/her mask, then scrub, then have the OR team gown and glove him/her. In addition, while he is removing the bullet from the patient's brain, he and Dr. Christine Palmer are shown intermittently with scrub masks and without.
