Synopsis

Director Panos Cosmatos (Beyond the Black Rainbow) returns with his second feature film, a hypnotic thriller set in 1983. Nicolas Cage stars as Red Miller, a man who is living an idyllic existence in the woods with the love of his life, Mandy (Andrea Riseborough) – until their peace is violently shattered by a sadistic cult. Obviously this means Red will seek bloody, ultraviolent vengeance upon those who have desecrated his life and slaughtered his love. And by extension: Nic Cage is gonna have a chainsaw duel.

Read the reviews and was so pumped... Movie was entertaining but not sure how Rotten Tomato’s had it at 98% fresh... Good movie to rent , first 40 mins are slow , then picks up. Reminded me of Sam Raimi’s evil series. Give it a solid 3 stars.

There are many things to enjoy here, not least the force of Cage’s performance as incensed lumberjack Red (and, it must be said, his scream).

Loving Mandy means appreciating what’s special about it from start to finish: from the psychedelic opening to the speed-metal finale. This film is a fusion of kitsch and pulp, underscored with a genuine spiritual yearning. It shouldn’t even be shown in theaters; it should be projected onto the side of an old hippie’s van.

A sensuous swath of striking imagery and otherworldly atmosphere, Mandy is a hypnotic, bloody pleasure.
