Synopsis

This is the peak dad cinema we’ve been missing. Men being hyper-competent at jobs I simply would never do in a million years. Also being set in Scotland we’ve got some AMAZING knitwear here.

A pretty incredible true story but I'm not sure there was enough to it to justify a feature length film. There's about 60 good minutes here and a half hour of filler. On the other hand Woody's always great.

It would have been easy to inflate Last Breath’s action stakes to make them fun and absurd, but Parkinson’s nonfiction instincts as a filmmaker won’t really allow for that. I’m thankful for the meticulous realism that follows instead.

The dramatized version simply floats, roils and plods forward as if being tugged dutifully along, ticking off checkpoints along the way. That IRL ending still reads as miraculous. Yet the whole thing feels still feels starved for creative oxygen.
