kept thinking "Diego Luna is Ben Affleck and Tonatiuh is Matt Damon and J Lo is J Lo" and then the end credits hit me with "executive produced by Ben Affleck and Matt Damon" ...... which could mean nothing

cobJan 28, 2026Has the same fundamental issue I take with Fosse's Cabaret where a lot of the musical material is tossed aside in favor of realism, and here it especially makes for a product that just does not mesh with itself. Would love to see Tonatiuh in more films though

I really enjoyed this movie! Jennifer Lopez does a fantastic job and she’s gorgeous. Everyone in this movie does such a great job. The music is beautiful and the cinematography is done so well. It feels so dark and gloomy and hopeless in the jail, but it’s bright and beautiful and fun when we’re…
Not to be overdramatic, but this is one of my new favourite movies ever Diego Luna the beautiful, musical and emotional icon you are Tonatiuh needs an Oscar PRONTO and needs to be in way more movies AND ON THAT NOTE Put Jlo in more musical movies for crying out loud. This should’ve been her…
I will be billing Bill Condon, Diego Luna, and Tonatiuh directly for my therapy session after seeing this film. Wonderful, harrowing, colorful, and tragically romantic, this adaptation reminds us of why we go to the movies, both physically and metaphorically.

Have never seen the original but will now. If it’s any good as this i will be very impressed. As a musical? Visuals, sets, and music were great. A couple songs still stuck in my head. Story overall? So deeply moving. What a year for dual (and triple) roles.
I have been thinking about this movie. It is crazy to think that they managed to mix a musical with the story of revolution and government crimes in Argentina. 2 very different stories told in a linear way. Beautifully done.

It was good. The pacing held up, visuals were sharp, and the performances felt authentic. Some scenes dragged, but overall, it left a strong impression.
A different kind of musical that blends drama with the idealized style of classic 1950s musicals. It’s a bit slow-paced, but well-produced.

Tonatiuh is a STAR!
Don’t go! Save your money. My daughter and I walked out of the movie. A major disappointment!

Inserting glitzy musical numbers amid such drama could have come off as a subversive twist, but because everything is presented with the same gentle glow of sentimentality it ends up feeling merely tasteless. For “Kiss of the Spider Woman,” this is the kitschy kiss of death.
Despite the jumps from reality to fantasy and back again, Kiss of the Spider Woman has one clear, loud emotional heartbeat. Every musical and dance number is well-performed and bursting with thematic meaning; the music is fun, the jokes land, and the overlapping characters are compelling to watch in both the real and fantasy world.
Kiss of the Spider Woman is a big kiss of a movie, one so genuinely loving that it's hard not to swoon.
