"If God did not love you, how could you do all the things that you have done?" This is really excellent, traditional spectacle, pretty and exciting and very self-consciously classy. Ridley never met a metaphor he wouldn't belabor or a theme he wouldn't thuddingly spell…
matt lynchAug 24, 2014*Watched the Director's Cut* An incredibly striking epic, and one that could've only come from the hands of Ridley Scott. I had forgotten just how visually impressive this film is. The cinematography is absolutely gorgeous, and if there's one thing Ridley knows how to…
Daniel Kibbeone of the greatest movies of this century, the high-watermark of historical epics; makes gladiator look like a TV pilot. ridley's such a pro that all of this enormous scale and production never threatens to drown out the essential poe-faced skeptical existentialism at its…

Rousing, heartbreaking, and important, Ridley Scott's masterful "Kingdom of Heaven" soars like epics of the past while brimming with contemporary significance. Pitting men who claim to fight in the name of God against Godly men who stand for peace, the film is thrillingly…
Travis LytleThe rumors are true: the director's cut of this rips.
Chris CabinOct 7, 2024"Nearly a thousand years later, peace in the Kingdom of Heaven remains elusive." Conflict between opposites, driven by principles and pushed even more apart by an unwillingness to make peace—a blatant allegory between faith and open-mindedness, supported by some of the…

Oh sweet, sweet Orlando Bloom. Bless your pretty face and your apparently giant hog, because you were never meant to be an actor. Kingdom of Heaven is a classic example of “I loved this movie when I was 12…maybe less so now, though”. Following a newly-knighted Bloom…
Matt!Apr 18, 2020God Ridley gave us the definitive nu-medieval movie: a dusty emo gore-fest about the Iraq War, a key text for 2000's nostalgia. A sword and socks-with-sandals epic.
NateApr 26, 2024Scott cares more about getting across an ideal of religious tolerance than recounting history - which is, in the long run, perfectly OK.

I admit that I’ve watched this just because of the meme with king Baldwin IV. (I am him ✋🏻) Not a movie genre I normally watch but I really like this movie. Loved the dialogues, fights, building tension. Please watch director’s cut (I know it’s 3 hours long and u got ADHD).
It is a pretty good movie, but it is 3 hours long. They did almost everything right, but I wish they made it a little faster pacing. The MC is okay but I find King Baldwin and Saladin more interesting than the MC. My rating for it is 7.4/10.

One of the most detailed movies I’ve ever seen, did Monty python kill this genre? Need more of these. Prime bloom. Color at times felt off with some CGI but not bad for the time. Awesome costume and design

Great performances, beautiful cinematography, and an accurate retelling of the story. The editing does make the plot somewhat confusing, so I would recommend some research before. I hear the directors cut is better at character development and editing. 7
