hey guys thank you for watching my domestic housework asmr video my name is jeanne dielman and be sure to like and subscribe if you wanna see more content like this
siobhanDec 13, 2022so fascinating to watch this and slowly recognize how quietly influential it’s been to so many pieces of media that i consider canonical to my own taste. you don’t get Lady Bird without this. you don’t get you don’t get The Florida Project without this. you don’t get…
demi adejuyigbeDec 13, 2022After spending three days with Jeanne Dielman I can confidently say that she is a woman who does not like to waste electricity

A movie that sounds challenging because it is quite literally 3 hours and 20 minutes of a woman doing housework but in actual practice is somehow one of the most enthralling watches I've had in a while. Akerman's impeccable composition & mise-en-scene trains you how to…
Josh LewisApr 15, 2019Adam was right, I can’t stop thinking about it. A boring, frustrating, painful experience of a movie that is also kind of brilliant. A unique film you should check out if you’re willing to be bored out of your mind for nearly 3 and a half hours.
Alex IHEDec 13, 2022quietly radical. yes, it's boring, and that's the point: being a housewife is boring! especially in the 70s, when you don't have games on your phone!!! if it's this "tedious" (non-derogatory) to watch her for 3 hours and 20 minutes, imagine the drudgery of actually living…

to be a woman is to be invisible. this movie demands that you reckon with the hot dinner put on the table and the dishes that are cleaned every night. it does not ask or concede: it is bold in showing you every tedious routine of the labor we have shoved into kitchens…
kaileyNov 9, 2018Boring. 10/10.
HibiscusNov 3, 2015Like is usually the case with these sorts of things, the day-to-day maintenance operations of and for the patriarchal state are performed almost entirely by women. As the subjugated, enslaved class, they engaged in the preprogrammed routinized, menial labor without which…

Pathos and commentary are lost in Jeanne Dielman’s egregious running time, which has absolutely no business being 202 minutes long. If the aim of this movie was to create the most boring film in the whole cinematic history they succeeded.
Not every movie goer’s cup of tea, but nonetheless a groundbreaking feat in the use of long shot and a beautiful expose on the difficulties of womanhood
a slow-burn masterpiece that has aged as well as it has due to its simplicity, effectiveness, and phenomenal craft. i was completely drawn in by this woman’s life and was never disinterested, only intrigued as to where the narrative would go. perfect lead; one of a kind

Hmm. I watched it because it was regarded so highly. I can see the artistic vision pretty clearly and there is a very noticeable lack of concern for doing anything that might hold an audience. I probably won’t ever watch it again. Not sure what to make of it. Art?
as a film student, there are some fun films i am introduced to i would’ve never have found otherwise, and then sometimes… there’s films you wish you didn’t spend three and a half hours watching for class. just watching a woman doing chores for the whole movie 🤷♀️
