the refugee crisis put into a digestible thriller/drama for mass audiences. the type of film people walk out of, feeling terrible yet their conscience is a little bit more relieved. hey, at least you're on the right side of history, huh? i see the need for a film like…
shookoneNov 6, 2024“Tell the big bad man, the boat will leave tomorrow morning at 5 a.m. precisely.” This is my version of an online response to what happened last night. 'The Strangers' Case' is one of a handful of films I watched as part of a jury for the upcoming St. Louis International…
George NapperFeb 25, 2024@Berlinale/2024 A lot of hate here for the director and his US origin from a lot of people who say they appreciate diversity and freedom of speech. At the Q&A at the Berlinale the director was honest and balanced and even stated that EVERYONE is entitled to their opinion.…

Does this movie have flaws? Definitely. Did the fact that Omar Sy and his clearly French speaking kid randomly spoke English to each other whilst residing in turkey really confuse me? Yes. Do I think this was a really important film to humanise asylum seekers as people…
tabeoschFeb 23, 2024pure trauma porn and the multi-perspective narrative device is interesting the first time but gets tiring very quickly
marleneFeb 23, 2024are we not yet done with yet ONE MORE refugee story that doesn’t even attempt to hold a stance other than “the refugee problem is bad” a film made for american and european audiences to pity people from SWANA. at the end of the day, it seems this film has nothing of value…

I never caught my breath during writer/director Brandt Andersen’s bleak, emigrant thriller “The Strangers’ Case.” I’m not sure that’s a good thing. Broken into several chapters, each following a respective character through plights involving war-torn homelands and abject…
Robert DanielsFeb 23, 2024Berlinale 2024 - Berlinale Special Gala - [English] Amira is a doctor in a hospital in Aleppo when the Syrian civil war forces her to flee with her daughter. In several episodes, we follow the fate of her and other families. In his feature film debut, Brandt Andersen…
SoilentBxdFeb 21, 2024Tömeges kivonulás a teremből.
