Atom User Reviews for HYMN - Sarah Brightman in Concert
Nobody puts on a show quite like Sarah Brightman, and "Hymn" is a breathtaking, magical concert experience like no other. I only wish it had gone on longer; 90 minutes of Sarah is just not enough!
First half pretentious second half fantastic
Nothing compares to her voice. Goosebumps.. Beautiful sets, fun, amazing...
We were a little disappointed. Her voice is incredible but the sound in the theater was off ... The outfits were rather gaudy - as were the stupid head pieces that looked awful on her wigs that did not sit right on her head. Actually the whole thing was l little off and I kept wondering if she was actually lip syncing and the music dubbed in! The BEST music was from Phantom of the Opera - for which she is famous - and the male who accompanied her was great. She is not the petite young singer she once was, and maybe she needs to recognize the need to dress appropriately in the present!
I gave 5 because the performance, both halves was fantastic. It was broadcast via satellite and sound was off occasionally. After there was a behind the scenes and it just abruptly stopped and a dish satellite logo appeared. Never got to see the rest.
Great songstress, but I couldn't sit through it. Very poor sound system in the Edwards theater I saw it at. Costuming and staging overdone. An epic 58 yr old performer trying to be 20 again doesn't work.
A great way to enjoy an album of music!
No audio at the beginning, first part was strange, the second act was better but editing and sound a little inconsistent.
One of the WORST concerts I have ever seen. 5 NEGATIVE STARS!! Don't waste your money on tickets.
Performances were great, especially the choir. Second act was better than the first. Sound was REALLY bad. Hence only three stars.
love this singer thank you
The book is worn & the pages thinning, but the words- Brightman's voice is as crisp & clear as ever!
Ms Brightman at her finest!
Sarah What a concert event Always amazing
Her headpieces were a bit much, music I English was great
Awesome to see Sarah Brightham for the first time performing live. Sporting good outfits for each song.
The first part was different, second part much better, she is a great performer Beautiful voice
First half seemed dubbed. Too much horrible choreography and lighting and too many ballads that all sounded the same. "Stranger in Paradise" had to be lowered for her to reach the high notes.
The whole βconcertβ was lip-synced. There was even a scene where she was singing βliveβ and you could tell they had done multiple takes. The audience was also actors and it was super obvious. She would also change her outfit after a song or two, that doesnβt happen in any real concerts. Great voice and great production though, I just wish she wouldβve sang live.
The movie did not start from the beginning, and it abruptly ended during the behind scenes portion showing a dish logo control box. Very unprofessional.
Great show indeed! Sound wasn't the best.
We went to Universal City to see it. The film lacked color and sound sounded like it was not in stereo.
It was breathtaking
I expected perfection from Sarah and it was sloppy. She was great but bad editing. If it had been live, l would have understood.
Enjoyed the whole concert!! Well presented & perfored. Great way to get up close viewing.
simply fantastic!
Better than being at the concert.
Incredible Music! Awesome Costumes! Great Show! Sadly, there were only 20 audience members in the theater and theater #12 at the Dole Regal in Honolulu has a speaker that rattles slightly when she was hitting the high notes.
SO looked forward to this and it did not disappoint me. Lots of individual songs, personal interviews, background as to how everything is set up. And a concert! It will hold me till the actual concert here in February! There was literally NO publicity for this fantastic film. I saw the ad One time on Oct 8. Needless to say bought the tickets immediately! I'd go see it again if it was offered!
The best concert ever!!!
Sarah Brightman is a genius! What will she think of next?
Wonderfully entertaining!
First half was more like a series of music videos, with amazing imagery. Second half was filmed in front of a live audience. Amazing costumes, and Sarah was dramatic and lovely as always. I think she's got her groove back. Also, she had four duets that were fantastic. Sadly the theater sound system was not up to the task, but I thoroughly enjoyed myself.
With a voice like no other, Sarah Brightman shines once more with a collection of new and timeless songs. With her library of material, this production easily could have been twice as long and I wouldn't have minded one bit. In our world, often heavily weighed in dark and depressing moments, Sarah Brightman's Hymn was a much needed breath of fresh, soul-nourishing air.
Great concert... but it was a satilite broadcast and it messed up the entire time
Amazing show, creative and inspiring and THAT VOICE!! <3
excellent
Another magnificent production by Sarah, so well thought out, absolutely stunning, Her voice is in peak condition, well worth seeing at the movie theater on the big screen!!
Such a beautiful voice!
I didnβt really like the first half. Second part was epic!!
Iβve always enjoyed Sarah Brightman and she never disappoints. Canβt wait to see her in March 2019 ππ»π»
Loved it and turned out to be enjoyable evening....2nd half much better and found head pieces a bit too much plus dresses were not becoming to her.
The first 40 mins was practically unwatchable due to poor reception. The last half was good. We got a refund.
A wonderful prelude to the concert.
Started late-first half was ??? Second act -fabulous
Enjoyable after a slow start
Have been a Sarah Brightman Fan since I was in my early 20s. She is still an amazing performer and entertainer. Love all the attention to detail of her performances. The only negative is that the stream went out twice, and it was not very clear.
Awesome ,beautiful music
Second Half way better than the first half
Always love Sarah's shows. First half was like her traditional concerts. Second half was fresh, scaled down, and focused on the music. love it!
