loca babyDec 18, 2024I’ve never seen a movie randomly end and instantly show a trailer for a series instead of freaking finishing the movie.
Brady CogginDec 18, 2024Homestead is about a nuclear bomb that goes off in L.A. and how that, I dunno, leads to the collapse of the US. To be fair, there was also a cyber attack that cut the power on the East Coast too... and you can never recover from a blackout! So a bunch of heavily armed types…

Go see another movie, or stay Home inStead. Homestead is a film that is just barely competently made enough that it can and will trick many people into thinking that it's better than it actually is. Beneath that serviceable surface, structurally this is one of the worst…

Samuel Benjamin Pookster the ThirdDec 18, 2024This was so awful I’m honestly disgusted by it. The entire thing is a conservative apocalypse fantasy where all these rich families gather at a mansion in the Rockies and panic about surviving and defending themselves. There are more guns in the mansion than the military…

I came into this blind and ended up not liking anything about it, really. Then, I watched the ad for the series at the end. I got tricked into watching a 2-hour ad. Dystopian experience for sure
LiamDec 19, 2024This is what I get for not properly looking into movies before showing up to the theater, I was just tricked into watching a two hour AD I will never understand the will to live in these situations???

Not the worst but not the best. Mostly just liked it because it was fun to make fun of.
No parts of the storyline felt developed enough for me. I kept wanting more depth. I typically like Angel Studio productions, so this one was a big disappointment.

Acting was great and the cinematography was excellent. The movie is essentially a “pilot episode” for the streaming series the directly follows it. Execution could have been better. Essentially stretched out a TV episode into a movie. Enjoyed the message portrayed though.
Movie was so awful. Could not tell you one part of the movie I enjoyed. Literally nothing happened. Bomb blew up, this one family got scared. Now we’re at another family, they also get scared and go to this other family’s house. Some kid predicted the bomb?? No plot to the movie.

Decent apocalyptic film about the survivors. Predictable but funny nonetheless. Looking forward to watching the show since the film felt like a long tv episode.
This was a great movie and so excited for the series! Enjoyed the characters, plot and filming. So grateful for Angel Studios making such amazing content.

Cried, but left the teather full of hope.
When I sat down to watch this movie, I expected fast-paced action and intense drama based on the trailer and early buzz. What I got instead was a heartfelt and meaningful story that focused on family, redemption, and faith in Jesus. It was a pleasant surprise and a deeply enriching experience. I would highly recommend to all!

It’s hard not to feel a bit scammed, like you just bought a brand-new AAA game and found out most of its content is still locked behind an additional paywall.
The lead characters are well-cast across the board, with Chase and McDonough especially effective as complex, unpredictable characters whose sporadic conflicts go a long way toward developing a rooting interest in both men.
The acting isn’t awful and the production values are passable. McDonough makes a much better villain than anybody shoved into that sort of role here. This is an origin story that lacks anything in the way of a “hook” to whet the viewer ‘s appetite for a series. Even the “Christianity” angle is soft-peddled.
