Whenever a dialogue based film with a small cast and set in one location is able to keep my attention I know the writing is tight. This movie is able to take the often fumbled topic of religion and belief and make the audience think, challenging them w/o attacking them
The first part of this movie felt so masterfully woven and was on track to becoming my favorite movie but it really lost me at the end. It feels like they ran out of time and just had to rush to finish it and some of the most interesting points were left unresolved and lacking…..

Absolutely phenomenal acting, for all 3 of the main characters. Past that, it's boring and preachy and stiff. It's Hugh Grant mansplaining religion to two teenage girls. Thats the movie. It felt like watching an incel athiest doing a youtube essay to disprove faith. So, meh.
Gorgeous filmmaking and great plot-progression but the theme was handled so poorly. makes me wonder how someone can hate religion that badly that they feel the need to make a movie to antagonize others. Just let people believe.

7.6 - LOVE religious debate. I grew up with multiple faiths in my own household, & attended Catholic school as a kid. And I now consider myself agnostic at best. I think there’s flaws to the arguments made by Hugh Grant’s character, & respect the way they allowed the girls the character depth to…
7.5/10 I thought the premise of this movie was really good, the tension between characters was very intense, but overall I am not sure I would classify it as a horror, rather intellectual thriller? I felt the plot was kinda lost going into the third act but it wasstillv cohesive!

Disappointing. Such an interesting setup and buildup over the first two thirds of the movie, but a complete flop of a payoff. Would have been far more successful if they had gone the Eldritch, Lovecraftian route AS WAS ALLUDED TO THE ENTIRE MOVIE. But in the end the director decides to go down the very simple and boring road of nothing matters, religion bad, and this guy was crazy. A film with incredible potential but really just falls flat in the end. What a letdown.
it was OK, there is much, much better out there.

Grant’s performance makes this film worthy of note. But expect to leave Heretic with perhaps less faith in mankind than you had already. (Wherever your levels were to begin with is a whole other question.)
Among the best horror films of the year.
Heretic has been crafted with expert care, and the strong performances help carry this dialogue-driven thriller. The problem is that the film’s ideas are not particularly stimulating.
