could be quite thrilling if you’ve never seen a movie before
calDec 10, 2024That blood soaked third act was great but that random plot twist ?? all that buildup for that twist? Too over the top for me.

not funny nor scary nor entertaining. it just kinda sucked. theres nothing you can latch onto in this movie. every time it tried to be creepy it failed, zero jump scares worked and the story lacked everything. big no no from me. on the other hand, i liked the very general…

SpaghettiNoirJan 13, 2025I’m struggling with giving this even one star, it was just trying too hard to be funny & I couldn’t wait for it to be over… but, I felt I had to watch it till the end in case it got good. Some of the costumes were comical, from the play & also the spa-standard attire at…

From the very beginning, Get Away rubs me the wrong way. It's a movie that thinks it's more clever than it is, and instead of including the audience into the joke, it wants to feel like the jokes are too smart for us. It also includes a twist that isn't nearly as clever as…

One of those that requires patience, and ends up being so worth it. I went in blind, following Nick Frost and Aisling Bea. I love both of them so the comedy worked for me. The plot twists and exposition 'decapitated' me, it risks falling flat on its face several times but I'm so glad it did. I love…
This movie is insanely slow and takes way too long to get going. The third act is entertaining but not enough to make the movie enjoyable.

Honestly thought it was going to be one amazing horror movie, plot at the start was intriguing but about 40 minutes in you knew that’s not what you were getting.. It was a cross between temu midsummer and wish kill bill. Sucked Wouldn’t recommend
The whole time I was like “Where is the comedy part of this movie.” I understand it was just how goofy the family was. Honest I expected the plot twist when I saw how calm they were and when the dad got his wallet then it shows those people dead.

I was wondering how this was a comedy for first like 50 minutes then it was good. I was soaked confused at first was like what is the relationships? But then it made sense…
The first half is really good and interesting and the minute the obvious twist happens, the film goes downhill fast. Not the worst movie, but just not great at all

The trouble with Nick Frost’s knowingly cartoonish and silly comedy paying homage to folk horrors such as The Wicker Man and Midsommar is that Frost has done this kind of movie before, and better.
Get Away works better on paper than as a visceral entertainment experience, as its raison d’etre of subverting folk horror expectations sometimes feels more like a screenwriting class exercise than a fully immersive world.
All in all, Get Away becomes surprisingly effective by the time all is said and done, bleakly satirical, bloody and a far cry better than the trite parody of director Steffen Haars other 2024 collaboration with Nick Frost, Krazy House.
