I would have loved it, had it not taken a random,, incest turn? Like they’re not actually siblings but it made it so weird that they were love interests. I guess it is a spoiler that they aren’t siblings, but i honestly feel like that’s necessary context to enjoy the movie

AHHHH STUDIO GHIBLI GETS BETTER AND BETTER WITH EVERY FILM. But when the incest plot was revealed I had to make sure they weren’t siblings before I continued watching because omg. Then I had to make sure they found out they weren’t related it was a whole mess. So good 10000000/10

It was just focused on these two kids in love, trying to save something they love while uncovering their pasts together. It’s such a beautiful story with beautiful animation.
Joshua Breeding likedFrom Up on Poppy Hill6/10 They had us for a sec think the two love interest we’re related. I don’t like that lol. That made the whole middle part of the movie feel really weird. Also the ending wasn’t very conclusive with them. The music was really good.

This movie...is a lovely example of the strong realist tendency in Japanese animation. Its visual magic lies in painterly compositions of foliage, clouds, architecture and water, and its emotional impact comes from the way everyday life is washed in the colors of memory.
