Movie Info & Cast

Fathom Events, TCM and Universal Pictures present Field of Dreams, returning to cinemas for a special 30th anniversary event! "If you build it, he will come." With these words, Iowa farmer Ray Kinsella (Kevin Costner) is inspired by a voice he can't ignore to pursue a dream he can hardly believe. Supported by his wife Annie (Amy Madigan), Ray begins the quest by turning his ordinary cornfield into a place where dreams can come true. Along the way he meets reclusive activist Terence Mann (James Earl Jones), the mysterious "Doc" Graham (Burt Lancaster) and even the legendary "Shoeless Joe" Jackson (Ray Liotta). A heartwarming experience that has moved critics and audiences like no other film of this generation, Field of Dreams is a glowing tribute to all who dare to dream. This two-day event includes exclusive insight from Turner Classic Movies.

What a great Father's Day experience watching a movie from my childhood with my father. Too bad the theater didn't know the very basics of their job requirements, like starting the movie on time, turning the lights off, showing coming attractions, turning the music off while the movie is playing, going from a black screen to 15 minutes into the movie, rewinding the movie in full view, and my favorite, not turning the volume up. All of this was experienced by myself and my dad . Come on guys, please do better for $14 a ticket.

It's Costner's eye-on-the-ball exuberance that carries Dreams past its often mechanical aesthetic paces.

This is the kind of movie Frank Capra might have directed, and James Stewart might have starred in - a movie about dreams.

Despite a few wrong turns early on, the movie gathers graceful momentum and heads straight to the warm heart of the book - that fond spot located just on the safe side of sentimentality, a feel- good place that doesn't leave any feel-stupid fallout.
