watching an ingmar bergman movie while you're already in a state of emotional vulnerability is like squeezing lemon juice on your hand thats been bitten off by a shark while youre being set on fire and the shark is coming back for you and he somehow has a gun now

kaileyMar 29, 2020“come what may, this is happiness” grief is so potent. it brings people together with a purpose, some more selflessly than others. and it rips them apart, exposing the truth, however ugly, however foul. bergman always makes me sob

why be happy when you can watch this film instead
liam fApr 1, 2017Literally nothing is more relatable to me than saying "it's all a web of lies" and then shoving a shard of glass into my vagina and smearing the blood across my face

Another disappointment by Bergman. I haven't seen much of his work yet, but I don't really know what's the problem or whose fault it is, but his scripts never speak to me or touch me. They just feel hollow with 98% of the script consisting of mumbling and 2% with real, symbolic,-
It's been a while since I've seen a Bergman film, and it's even better having Liv Ullmann appear. The portrayal of grief and pain between these characters is always raw. I wasn't as engaged in the first half, but the second half gripped me tight and was so devastating.
