Synopsis

An action/thriller set in 1977 about four friends who reunite for a bachelor party to hunt for buried Prohibition money on the Kentucky Bourbon Trail, only to become ripped apart by greed, corruption, and murder.

Every now and then, a line or a subtle moment in someone’s performance has some truth in it, but little is sustained in Bullitt County.

While it offers more style than substance, Bullitt County delivers an engrossing tale with enough twists to satisfy thrill-loving audiences. If anything, it offers too many twists, proving unable to live up to its considerable narrative ambitions.

Trading “Dueling Banjos” and gut-wrenching tension for haphazard plotting and an impromptu group singalong of an original folk tune, the results are disappointing on a number of levels.
