Atom User Reviews for Bolshoi Ballet: The Nutcracker Encore
Very impressed! This was the first time I've seen a ballet so I'm excited about see one in person. So happy yo experience in a theater setting first. I think the lady speaking should have had translation going at bottom of screen versus changing back and forth. At the intermission I enjoyed her history lessons and I will definitely return.
Most wonderful performances, staging and costumes beautiful. Have enjoyed the Bolshoi ballets for years now and cannot think of a better way to spend a Sunday afternoon. Fills me with joy!
Performance was excellent: dancers were graceful, elegant, and enthusiastic in their performances. Costumes and scenery were creative. My only negative comment was the commentary and the beginning and intermission. She switched from Russian, to French, to English fluidly as if it were all one sentence. I’m sure there was good information to be shared, but I couldn’t focus. During the intermission when she was interviewing the ballet master, I tuned out and focused on the dancers practicing in the background. My suggestion is to just declare “Intermission” on screen or, like the description ls for Acts 1 and 2, write brief facts that would be of interest about the composer, choreographer, performance. I did enjoy the interview with the ballerina at the beginning, which was subtitled. I will definitely attend another Fathom Event ballet performance.
Every time I see this ballet it’s better and better.
The ballet itself was lackluster both in terms of the dance and the costumes & sets. Have seen several live ballets that were much more entertaining. As for the streaming, the picture was not very sharp as well as the colors seemed pretty muted. Overall I was disappointed to have paid the price and driven over an hour to the theater.
Beautiful ballet. A bit lengthy with the commentary.
Amazing talent ballet dancers, precise movements, eyes glued to the couple dancers movements. Great outfits.
