Listening to each other’s guilty playlists while walking around New York may just be the most romantic thing I’ve ever seen. Loved this. Keira Knightley was actually a pretty good singer too.

i loved the scene where dan and gretta were listening to music while walking around the city, and the line “one of the most banal scenes is suddenly invested with so much meaning” is so so true when you’re listening to music

Romantic comedy?? This isn’t a romantic comedy… drama with hints of comedy would be the description I’d give. And zero romance… like… I couldn’t even tell who the romantic leads were. I thought it was Kiera and Adam, then Kiera and Mark? (yikes), and then she ends up with no one

Begin Again is as uncynical and unironic a film as I've seen in a while, which will no doubt be a turn-off to many. But like a catchy summer jam, it doesn't need to apologize for being exactly what it is, nor do its fans have to feel guilty for getting it stuck in their heads.

It's rare to find a movie that uses music to define love without sentimentalizing it. But Begin Again, with songs by Glen Hansard and New Radicals frontman Gregg Alexander, is a wonderfully appealing exception.
