Synopsis

This documentary about trailblazing rocker Joan Jett is about more than just her career. Through archival footage and interviews, the film traces her struggles in the male-dominated punk scene of the 1970s and the impact she had on the music industry. Her passion, talent, and sheer stubbornness led her to greatness with her band The Runaways. But popularity doesn’t define a musician – attitude does. And she’s got plenty of that.

It’s hard to describe exactly how fun it is to watch the performances and archival footage generously offered in Bad Reputation. Suffice to say rock fans with a bellyful of beer will have a ball.

The movie chronicles music industry tales of glory and failure. These are dishy, but more interesting is Ms. Jett’s rock ‘n’ roll heart. The stories of how she mentored younger bands are moving.
