if i can be just half as good of a partner as herb then i would have succeeded
8.6 - I am not the target audience one bit & I still loved this. It’s sweet, wholesome, happy, and heartfelt. There’s not a bad acting performance in the whole movie but Abby Ryder Fortson is an absolute gem. Would be very happy to see this get awards buzz next year.
I loved it, it was so relatable. The scene where Margaret cried in the school bathroom actually got me crying. Ngl I hate her Jewish grandma for the drama she created during that family dinner tho. Also Nancy is so toxic, don’t be friends with people like her because they suck.

Girlhood. That is the only word to describe this movie. It was so relatable and funny and overall a great movie. Every girl remembers some of these things happening to them. It exceeded my expectations 💕 “I want to get a bra” “Oh. You think you need one?” 😦

I don’t think I was the target audience for this movie, and I haven’t read the book and that could be why my review is lower. I thought this movie was strange? I understand at that age, girls want to be more “grown up” and such, but I couldn’t imagine being okay with my daughter even filming this…

MOOSE SHOULD’VE KISSED HER.
Great movie! So many memories of when I was in 6th grade and read the book for the first time.

The sense that they don’t make mass entertainments like this anymore is palpable.
Are You There God? It’s Me Margaret is a delightful film, just lovely.
If the drama feels occasionally slight, read it as a way in which the film is asking you to understand the perspective of its central character — for Margaret, it’s momentous. And for me, the twentysomething guy in a Bride of the Monster T-shirt and Dr. Martens seeing this movie solo, well, I left choked up seeing something so assiduously warm and sincere.
