"It looks bad, Mr Lawyer" First watch off the Bollywood Horror boxset and admittedly, I'm not to familiar with these films. Even looking at my Letterboxd stats, India doesn't even show up in my top 10 countries I tend to watch movies from. Well that's about to…
Bloodspiller🩸Apr 12, 2023Over 20 years in - and despite the Ramsay brothers sticking to Mario Bava lighting, the monster still doesn’t have a musical number! Nothing makes bellydancing better than possession! After the epic high of “Purana Mandir,” I got sidetracked in the 2000s DTV trash of…
Dakota NootOct 24, 2024Hooptober XI—2 Indian films—2: Aatma Colored, lit, and damn-near blocked like a Bava film, somehow finding its way into a late-Ramsay production of the mid-2000s—and it’s phenomenal. Might be less-Bollywood-Bollywood, but not for any better or worse: the genre/soap-opera’d…

The younger generation of Ramsay, Deepak, takes a swing at horror, following in the footsteps of his father Tulsi and uncle Shyam (the fabulous Ramsay Bros). It’s hilariously horny and per standard playbook rips off both the Exorcist and Evil Dead, as a young hot doctor and…
Cinema_StrikesApr 12, 2023I checked out by intermission. When watching a Ramasy horror film, you have to prepare yourself for random subplots, gangs of men chasing women, dance numbers, and monsters. All wraps up at the end within 5 minutes, just like the Lifetime movies do.
Christopher VelascoNov 16, 2022I wasn't entirely sold but then a lady screaming made a guy's head explode (literally). And it got wilder from there. Definitely in the Ramsay style, but it cranks the goofy up to 11 frequently.

After a few years I finally cracked open my Bollywood Horror set. Pretty crazy stuff - reminded me of Passions but in Hindi, with more mentions of “post-mortem” than I thought was possible. So much of a change of pace for me that it broke my brain for a minute.
Jim YFeb 26, 2024Supernatural horror that plays like a confusing bloated soap opera. Gaudy lighting & unfortunate outfits all over the place, very unpleasant to look at (especially for two hours). Pretty weak.
badpizzaOct 12, 2023Had a lot of fun with this one. It’s still got parts of that Ramsay formula, but those are not as prominent as the tv hospital drama stuff. That combined with the Bava style lighting and gothic story/exorcist mashup made me think a lot of Garth Merenghi’s Darkplace of all…
