8.1/10 -this one was hard to rate, until i read an explanation -i hate the twins, they’re the worst -makes total sense how so much devotion to something can lead a person to leave it behind when it all falls apart -self awareness is very important
amazing. i was hesitant to watch because i don’t usually go for hyper-accurate period pieces but i’m so glad i did because it’s incredibly well done and i really appreciated the accuracy it’s so isolating in a scary way, emotionally and physically the acting was great too

Let’s talk about the performances in this A24 horror film! Anya Taylor Joy’s performance was refreshing and terrifying. A movie that made me turn it off and then back on just to know what happened. Possibly one of the most uncomfortable movies I have seen. But a must watch for me

With incredible attention to detail and an unwavering commitment to the world he has created, Eggers slowly, surely builds tension until it's almost unbearable. And that's delightful, if you're a horror fan. It's a terrific film.
This is a very promising first feature by Eggers and showcases some exceptional acting.
Although Eggers is discreet – the things you don’t see are more horrifying than those you do – the picture’s relentlessness sometimes feels like torment. But if you can survive it, The Witch is a triumph of tone.
