John Cena is looking to go from Transformers to DC Comics.

The Bumblebee star is in talks for a role in James Gunn’s The Suicide Squad, reports Variety. No word yet on what part the wrestler-turned-actor will play, but we’re hoping it’s King Shark.

Suicide Squad is shaping up to be a big deal for Warner Bros. and DC. Its profile received a significant boost when writer-director Gunn boarded the project after his removal from Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3. (The director has since been rehired to helm that Marvel sequel). If Cena officially signs on to the film, he will join Idris Elba — who will reportedly no longer be playing Deadshot, but rather an entirely new character.

The rebootquel isn’t completely dismissing 2016’s David Ayer-helmed effort that was a box office hit but failed to resonate with critics. Margot Robbie and Jai Courtney are expected to reprise their roles as Harley Quinn and Captain Boomerang, respectively. Even better? Oscar-winner Viola Davis is also rumored to return as Amanda Waller, the person responsible for sending the Squad on their missions.

While we do not officially know the roster of anti-heroes enlisting for duty in Gunn’s movie, word ’round the campfire is that the Squad this around includes such B-and-C-level comics characters as Polka-Dot Man, Peacemaker, and, yup, King. Freakin’. Shark.

Expect more casting news as the movie ramps up for a fall shoot.

James Gunn’s The Suicide Squad hits theaters Aug. 6, 2021.
